Information Specialist / Librarian
The Job's Mission
The Information Specialist / Librarian provides excellent support to IMD’s programs and thought leadership through reference desk shifts, research information searches, program file development, book collection oversight, communication activities, and other librarian tasks based on skills and needs. The Specialist is an integral part of IMD’s library, the Research Information & Knowledge Hub (RIK), which supports IMD programs, research, and institutional reporting.
Key Activities & Accountabilities
• Oversee library book collection by acquiring new books and e-books, cataloguing new acquisitions, managing book collection software, sending reminders about overdue book loans, and communicating about new titles
• Conduct information searches using IMD’s specialized online databases and the Web and collaborate with IMD Faculty in building program files to support the learning experience at IMD
• Act as the Research Information & Knowledge Hub’s main external communication focal point by maintaining the library’s Intranet page, preparing Intranet posts, keeping guides about library tools and processes updated, and promoting library services on the student portals
• Provide on-campus support and answer information research requests via email and phone from program participants, Faculty, and researchers during Infodesk (reference desk) shifts several times per week
• Support the dissemination of IMD books via the acquisition and selling of books at the IMD Bookstore (this task may be transferred to another department soon)
• As time allows or according to preferences, assist with other tasks such as journal management, taxonomy projects, digitalization of IMD publications, organization of special library events, etc.
Education
• Bachelor’s in Library Science (or equivalent)
Experience
• At least 2 years of information research experience (in academic or professional setting), using online research databases
• At least 2 years of experience cataloguing or organizing documents or other information
• Experience in customer service desirable

• Good command of oral and written English
• Strong attention to detail; meticulous and precise
• Excellent personal organization skills
• Comfortable working under tight deadlines when essential to business needs
• Team player
• Strives for continual improvement of work processes and tools
• Technology-oriented (“tech savvy”), with experience in the use of online databases, apps, and the Internet
• Good knowledge of MS-Office products; in-depth knowledge of Excel would be an asset
